Introduced last year in Johor amid tightening emissions requirements in Singapore (which would have resulted in Malaysian vehicles that fall foul of the new regulations being barred entry into the republic), Euro 5 diesel has finally made the trek up north into Klang Valley. BHPetrol is again the first to launch the fuel in the region at its station at the Sungai Besi toll on the KL-Seremban Highway.
UPDATE: BHPetrol has announced that its Infiniti Euro 5 Diesel is now available at two more of its stations in the Klang Valley – these are located on the MRR2 (near Desa Melawati, Setapak) and on the KESAS highway (KL-bound, near Kinrara R&R).
Earlier, we were informed that the introduction of the fuel at the Subang Airport and Jalan Genting Klang stations had been brought forward to yesterday, August 7.
Sold at a regulated price of RM2.05 – 10 sen more than regular Euro 2M diesel – the fully-imported BHPetrol Infiniti Euro 5 Diesel will be made available at this station starting today. Stations at the Subang Airport, Jalan Genting Klang (KL-bound) and MRR2 will be next to gain the fuel on the 10th.
After that, the KESAS highway (KL-bound) station will receive Euro 5 diesel on the 11th, Mutiara Damansara and Lebuhraya Pulau Indah stations on the 12th and Jalan Batu Caves (near Taman Bolton) and Taman Connaught stations on the 13th. By the end of September this year, BHPetrol aims to offer Euro 5 diesel at 20 stations in the Klang Valley.
Euro 5 diesel has a sulphur content of just 10 parts per million (ppm), compared to 500 ppm for current Euro 2M diesel – aside from reducing the emission of harmful pollutants, this also extends the life of modern diesel engines and emissions control equipment. On top of that, BHPetrol has added a double dose of German additives to keep the engine clean, reduce problems and improve fuel economy.
“Our new BHPetrol Infiniti Euro 5 Diesel will be the fuel of choice for advanced diesel engine vehicles that require low sulphur diesel to achieve optimum performance,” said managing director KT Tan. “The introduction of Euro 5 diesel will encourage car companies to introduce vehicles with advanced diesel vehicles, thus Malaysians will have more choice.”
